The affluent suburb of Alpharetta had once been called the town of Milton until it was chartered in 1858. It was the pioneers and farmers who settled in the area after the Cherokee people had been forcibly relocated to the Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). The 21.4 square mile city is currently home to over 63,000 residents. Alpharetta has quite a number of attractions for tourists to enjoy. The Downtown Alpharetta Historic District is where several historic buildings, some dating back to the 19th century or even older, are located. Another attraction to check out is the Alpharetta Arboretum at Wills Park where walking tours around trees are organized. The Alpharetta Arboretum at Cogburn Road Park is also worth a visit.
