This historic US national monument includes 9 sites located in 3 states, all put up to honor several times when the Americans engaged in World War II. Created in 2008, the monument has one site in California, three in Alaska and five in Hawaii – totaling a land area of around 6,310 acres.
The monument in Hawaii includes the USS Arizona Memorial and Visitor Center, the USS Utah Memorial, the USS Oklahoma Memorial, Six Chief Petty Officer Bungalows on Ford Island and the Mooring Quays F6, F7 and F8, which were all part of the Battleship Row.
Tickets to the memorial are available to its more than 1.5 million annual visitors free of charge and are given on a first-come, first-served basis each day. These are being required to join the timed programs to the memorial which happen every 15 minutes from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. The one hour and 15 minute program includes a documentary, a boat ride and some free time at the memorial.
