The unincorporated community of Chantilly in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia is home to a population of more than 23,000 residents. The name of the place was taken from a 19th century mansion and farm, which also got its name from an 18th century plantation in Westmoreland County. Chantilly comes from the Chateau de Chantilly in France, located north of Paris.

This tiny 11.7 square mile area plays a major role in history due to its Civil War engagements and the Battle of Chantilly.
