With “Capture the Spirit of Good Living” for its motto, it is not surprising why Duluth is considered as one of America’s Best Places to Move by Forbes Magazine. The area was originally a part of the Cherokee Indian territory and was primarily a forest land settled in by tribes. The settlement was called Howell’s Crossing after its forefather, cotton merchant Evan Howell, but it was later renamed after the city of Duluth in Minnesota. Visitors who have a penchant for historic Pullman cars and steam locomotives will love dropping by the 35-acre Southeastern Railway Museum located in the city. Duluth is also home to several attractions such as the Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center, Gwinnett Place Mall, Red Clay Theater and Hudgens Center for the Arts. Several tourists also stop by the city and make it a jump off point to get to Stone Mountain and Lake Lanier which are just located nearby.
