Kings Island

Kings Island is a 364-acre amusement park northeast of Cincinnati that opened on April 29, 1972. It has seven themed sections, with one additional section seasonal. There were 3,238,000 visitors in 2014 As of the 11th of July, 2014, the ride Racer had a total of 99,154,882 riders since it opened. The highest number by year, beating out all other rides was 3,681,338 in 1976.

Soak City is a place where you can play volleyball with the family, rent a Cabana, and soak up the sun while the kids have fun.  Action Zone has rides like the roller coaster Invertigo and Extreme SkyFlyer, The amphitheater Timberwolf is just behind this area. Coney Mall holds many of the rides reminiscent of the original Coney Island, like Monster, Scrambler, and Dodgem. The International Mall is the first area as you enter the theme park and represents Italy, Spain, Germany, and Sweden. The area holds dining options, entertainment venues, and the Grande Carousel. The Grande Carousel is 90 this year (2016)! Carmen Electra was a dancer in 1990 and performed here under her real name (just a little something fun for you to look up.)

Oktoberfest is based on a 2-week beer festival held in Germany. The Festhaus (festival hall) is the food court and entertainment venue for this area of the park. Planet Snoopy is a fun place for the younger crowd, containing rides and activities like Snoopy’s Junction, The Kite-Eating Tree, and The Great Pumpkin Coaster. Rivertown has a Western theme and holds The Beast roller coaster, Diamondback roller coaster, and White Water Canyon. Halloween Haunt is the added themed section open seasonally on the weekend at the end of Sept through Oct. Although “DINOSAURS ALIVE!” Is not officially a themed part of the park, it is an interactive area that is educational. It is based on scientific facts about dinosaurs that the whole family can explore and learn from.
