Havasu Falls

The Havasu Falls (or Havasupai Waterfalls) are located at the southwest corner of the Grand Canyon National Park, in Coconino County. These falls are on the Havasupai Reservation. The Havasu Falls are one of four waterfalls on the reservation. The twin falls are 100-feet high that cascade into pools of smaller pools and waterfalls of blue-green water made by the mineral of magnesium that is found naturally in the creek above the falls. Since the creek originates from a hot spring, the water temperature usually stays at 70 degrees year-round. The beauty of the four falls against the canyon walls on the reservation brings tourists to this destination.

The Havasupai Indians’ village is Supai and sits in the middle of the reservation in the ravine. The main employment for the village is the tourism to the waterfalls and tourists leave their vehicles at "Hualapai Hilltop" at a parking lot on Arizona Indian Road 18. There are three ways into the Village of Supai: hiking, horseback or helicopter. The village has a lodge, general store, restaurant and post office but there are no roads in or out. Everything is packed in and out by mule. The trip is to the village is eight miles. Another couple miles and the majesty of nature becomes apparent with the sights and sounds of the opulence of the water and falls. There are over 25,000 tourists that visit the falls each year.
