The National Zoological Park, or more popularly known as the National Zoo, is one of the oldest zoos in the country. Founded in 1889, the National Zoo actually has two campuses: one is the 163-acre urban park in Washington DC while the 3200-acre Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute can be found in Front Royal. As part of the Smithsonian Institution, admission is free in the National Zoo.
