It opened in 1899 and is home to more than 1,000 animals representing 300 species, the most notable of which is Bobo, a western lowland gorilla. Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, which opened in 1905, is also a great place to see animals such as polar bears and Arctic foxes and attracts more than half a million visitors annually. Other zoos to visit in the Washington State are the Cougar Mountain Zoo, Cat Tales Zoological Park, Seattle Aquarium, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and Reptile Zoo and Living Museum.
