Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a 500-acre theme park in Florida that is divided into seven sections and is dedicated to animal conservation. It was opened April 22, 1998. Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be distinguished by the signature “Tree of Life” which has over 325 carvings of different animals within the tree and a theatre in the base and stands 145 feet tall. The park is home to over 1700 animals. The cost to open Disney’s animal Kingdom was almost $1 Billion. One of the sections of the theme park “DinoLand U.S.A.” holds a casting of the infamous "Dino-Sue". She stands outside the Dino Institute and is the replica of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil found. The theme for this park is centered on conservation, which is very different from Disney’s’ other theme parks. This conservation belief was one of Walt’s original values that he wanted to share through his company. For this reason, the benches in the park are made of wood and recycled milk jugs.  For security reasons, this is the only Disney Park that has doors on their bathrooms. The reason for this is if the animals get loose, the guests would be directed to the bathrooms where they can close and lock the doors. The Association of Zoos & Aquariums through March 2020 accredits Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In 2014, there were 10,402,000 visitors to the theme park and ranked 7th worldwide.
