Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls is located within Yosemite National Park, in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. This fall consists of three sections; Upper Fall, Middle Cascade, and Lower Fall. Combining its three sections, Yosemite Falls is 2,425 feet tall. This is considered to be the tallest waterfall in North America and the fifth-highest waterfall in the world.

The best time to see this waterfall is during the spring and early summer. This is because the waterfall is fed by the snowmelt in the high country. By August, the waterfall has usually run dry.  If you want to see the waterfall, you can visit the Yosemite Conservancy’s Yosemite Falls webcam on your computer.

The lower Yosemite Fall Trail is an easy 1-mile loop that will take you about 30 minutes. The paved walkway will allow you to get close enough to view both the upper and lower falls.  You will get a nice spray in the process when the falls are active. There are some exhibits where you can stop and learn about the natural and cultural history along the way. The trail to the top of Yosemite Falls is a strenuous 6-8 hour round trip. You will need to stick to the trail on this one. There are steep drops and unexpected ledges. Take precautions and be prepared. Follow the park's safety guidelines. There were 4,150,217 visitors to the park in 2015
